With each course, there is usually a notable quote from a pro shop employee indicating the reasoning of the cart policy.
Berkshire Hills County Club; Chesterland, Ohio - walking prohibited (i.e., carts only) before noon on weekends, "you must take a cart; that's the boss's rules" (as of 06/19/11) - see review
Delaware Golf Club; Delaware, Ohio - walking is not prohibited per se, but according to pro shop, "the course is a difficult walking course, so if someone wants to walk, we usually take $10 off the price." On Mondays, there is a flat rate of $29 for 18 holes. (as of 7/25/11) - see review
Maumee Bay State Park Golf Course; Oregon, Ohio - carts are mandatory before 3 pm on weekends, per pro shop, "you must take a cart on weekends, that's the deal we have with the state" (as of 8/27/11) - see review
Mill Creek Golf Club; Churchville, NY - carts are mandatory before noon on weekends and holidays (as of 9/11/11)
Greystone Golf Club; near Rochester, NY - carts are mandatory before noon on weekends, when asked about the cart policy, "I don't know, it's just because" (as of 9/10/11)
